Frequently Asked Questions
One of our Rotary members, Ryan Thackray, is an outdoor enthusiast and a bit of a dreamer. A few years ago, he had this crazy idea to bring camping to Falls Park. He started researching and was pleasantly surprised to find out he wasn’t so crazy after all – other cities were already doing this “urban camping” thing (NYC and Chicago to name a few). He brought the idea to our Rotary Club as we were in the process of wrapping up our major fundraiser of 26 years, Roper Mountain Holiday Lights, after 26 years. We’ve been working hard with the City of Greenville over the last few years to make Camp the Falls a reality.
The Festival is free and open to the community. We hope families and people of all ages will join us in Falls Park on September 8th from 2-6pm to enjoy camping foods, music, games, camping demos, activity stations, and of course our much anticipated raffle drawing for Camp the Falls. The campout is the following weekend on September 14-15th and is a private event open to the raffle winners announced at the Festival.
We’re glad you asked! We will be raffling 8 campsites off at Camp the Falls Festival on September 8th, so you’ll need to purchase a raffle ticket to be entered into the drawing.
Click on the “raffle” tab on our website and you’ll be taken to a third party site to get your electronic ticket. You can also find Rotarians selling physical tickets around town.
Nope! We hope you’ll be able to come to the festival, but if not, we’ll be notifying all winners within 24 hours of the drawing.
Yes, we will have police officers patrolling the park throughout the entirety of the campout. We will also have medical personnel on-site for both the festival and the campout.
Brand new tents, sleeping pads, and sleeping bags will be setup and ready to go when you arrive at the campout. You only need to bring an overnight bag with your personal items. After the campout, winners will be able to take the tent and camping supplies home with them.
Yes! One of the best parts of urban camping is having the conveniences of a city at our fingertips. Winners will be given gift cards to dine downtown for dinner and a delicious brunch will be waiting for you on Sunday morning.
Yes! We will be doing a live auction with one “glampsite” (glamour camping) at the Festival. Come ready to bid!
In the case of severe weather, we will schedule an alternate date for the campout. Camp the Falls Festival is a rain or shine event.
Pets are allowed at the Festival, but unfortunately winners will not be permitted to bring them to the campout.
